In 2013, we undertook joint research* with the Institute of Directors in New Zealand into reputation management. It is the third time the research has been conducted and found that:
- almost 70% of business leaders say reputation is one of their prime assets, and two-thirds agreed that reputational damage was a high risk to them
- nearly half of those surveyed admitted corporate reputation is not regularly on their board agenda, while 40% said they do not have a crisis communications plan
- nearly half of those said it was because of a lack of awareness, while others said it was not a priority.
We are strongly motivated by the idea that an organisation should devote time and resources to its corporate communications strategy, to help understand, build and protect its reputation.
To do this, our corporate communications specialists consider how reputation can be strategically developed, and how it can be fully supported and communicated at the most senior levels, at the most challenging times. This involves identifying and monitoring emerging issues, as well as ensuring a high level of continuity between internal understanding and external stakeholder management.
