Financial Services Case Study
The challenge
A financial services provider briefed SenateSHJ on a highly confidential matter regarding allegations about the business which has been independently investigated and found to be unsubstantiated. The client was concerened that the allegations presented reputational risks to its business.
Approach
SenateSHJ developed an issues management plan to protect the business’s reputation. The strategic approach included identifying all stakeholders that may be impacted should the allegations be made public, preparing messaging and coaching spokespeople to speak to the media including providing background briefings if required.
SenateSHJ established news and social media monitoring for any indication the issue may escalate. Monitoring helped anticipate media story angles and informed our advice on how and whether the business should respond. Using specific search terms, we captured all mentions of the business and updates were sent twice daily to the client. Monitoring included manual checks of specific social channels.
Outcome
Media coverage on the issues occurred over several months. As a result of the issues management plan and ongoing advice from SenateSHJ, the client was able to manage the issue, was ready to engage with stakeholders with pre-prepared messaging, and confidently respond to media enquiries.
